Students were challenged to choose a form of spoken word… a podcast, a poem, movie dialogue… and create a physical book using only abstract imagery and B&W text in a way that highlights the diction, pitch, or emphasis of the spoken words.

This book is a unique representation of the 2021 Inaugural poem recitation of “The Hill We Climb” by Amanda Gorman. The combination of elegant brushstrokes and manipulated typography aims to create visuals that not only highlight the raw emotion of the spoken lines but also spark the reader’s imagination into really understanding the deeper meaning behind the collection of text.
